There is no doubt that starting a new business is tough.  There are concerns around financing, hiring, payroll, rent and the rest of the tasks, and there is the need for marketing the business without breaking the bank.

But there is a solution.  Is there a business plan and theme to convey to the customer base?  Are the signs and related items in coordination with that theme?  Will there be a physical location, and if so, will it be accessible to the public and customers?

Here is a suggestion.

Sit down with the sign supplier, like Liberty Signs.  We can help you with what is needed to get started.  Think of bundling the signage into one neat economical package.  Discuss the long-term needs and short term goals.  What kinds of signs will have the most immediate effect?  What signs are needed for the life of the business?  Make a list of what kinds of options work best for the business.  Start with something like this for outdoor exposure:

  • Floor logo mats
  • Front door or window glass
  • Exterior decorative post or monument signs
  • Exterior building face or projecting signs
  • Exterior wall murals
  • Banners

If the business is located inside of a mall or office building, then other locations can serve as “signposts”:

  • Projecting wall signs
  • Window signs
  • Portable signs
  • Pop-up displays
  • Floor mats
  • Wall graphics

How about a mobile sign?  An extremely effective way to advertise a new business is to move the sign around to the potential customers or clients rather than wait for them to go by the site.  Vehicle wraps, car wraps, and truck wraps – whatever one wishes to call them – do indeed work!  Make use of fairly simple signs or dramatic or catchy graphics to bring attention to the business.  The entire vehicle need not be wrapped up in vinyl, but some really imaginative full wraps are on the road and stunningly spectacular to boot.  Consider the vehicle wrap as an option for the start-up sign bundle.

Discuss the budget with the sign-maker.  Put together a plan to introduce the signs necessary at different stages of startup.  Put the signs on a schedule for production at an already agreed upon price and delivery date to match product or service launches.  Scheduling the where and when and what kind of sign to be displayed will keep the business noticed and help grow the exposure for the targeted customers or clientele.  At the same time, the new business can spread out their initial sign costs from a lump sum up front to a more manageable payment schedule.
